We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join the team at PlayStation! This is a high-visibility technical leadership position with SIE's Data Platform Group to establish a high-performing, highly available, Data Platform which delivers valuable insights through data, to Playstation's business units. This key role will lead the technology transformation of the data platform including existing and new services supporting the spectacular customer growth on the platform.

The role requires partnering across Product Management, Architects, Engineering, Hosting and Operations. Position requires extensive hands-on technical expertise coupled with ingenuity, associated technology product knowledge, broad industry knowledge and excellent communication skills.

Performs a key role in the evolution of a highly performant Enterprise Data Platform and associated services, applying industry standard best practices and implementation to enable valuable insights through data, to SIE's data consumers.

Plays a leadership role in driving architecture and design, working closely with engineering teams on delivery, operations, and continuous improvement. Works multi-functionally with Product, business units, and architecture community to develop data platform vision, strategy, and roadmap. Participates in product roadmap discussions and identifies key areas for improvement in the product and incorporates these goals into ongoing & future development initiatives.

Qualifications:
• BS Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years' experience in software development, expert level programming (Python/Java or comparable languages), design, and analysis.
• Extensive experience delivering high performance Enterprise Data Platforms and Data Solutions
• Extensive experience with enterprise data warehousing systems (Snowflake or similar OLAP systems), preferably with near real time transactional data, using demonstrably standard data warehousing design techniques.
• Exceptional technical experience and knowledge of web services technologies, integration technologies, data transformations and data analytics, managing and optimizing complex technology transformation.
• Experience in delivering data using streaming technologies such as Kafka, Flume and Kinesis.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL programming including both relational database schema designs and schema-less systems.
• Hands-on experience in Amazon Web Services, at enterprise scale is required including familiarity with AWS platform and managed data services.
• Extensive experience with agile development methodologies and test driven development processes required.
• Possess the drive and passion for quality with the ability to inspire, excite and motivate other team members.
• Excellent leadership presence - facilitative leadership of the team, leading meetings, presenting, and influencing across organizations.
