ABOUT FIREWALK STUDIOS

Firewalk Studios is dedicated to creating unforgettable multiplayer experiences that capture the joy of playing together. We believe in the power of multiplayer and want to delight players with worlds that spark imagination and forge connection through immersive gameplay, artistry, and heartfelt characters. We are currently working on an original multiplayer game as part of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Creating worlds that ignite imagination and connection takes a collaborative team. Firewalk is building a world-class, next-generation game studio with a focus on a more sustainable approach to game development. For us, setting a high-quality bar, creating something extraordinary, and treating each other with trust and respect go hand-in-hand.

THE ROLE

Firewalk is looking for a Gameplay Engineer who loves games and is eager to bring exceptional entertainment to millions of players. We are building a next generation multiplayer game. You will be responsible for helping architect and build core player systems including things like movement, weapons, and actions in our game. You will help ensure a stable development environment and a high bar for code quality. You will need strong interpersonal and development skills as you build our core player systems with other engineers and disciplines. You will support everyone to help push the boundaries of what our code is capable of. Would you be excited about achieving our goals with us?

WHO YOU ARE
• You have experience writing code for player combat, movement, and related systems for a ''AAA'' game development studio. Experience with fast paced online games a plus.
• You believe that technical passion and common decency can and should exist harmoniously. You model that every day, using clear, direct, kind communication, both verbal and written.
• You have a strong instinct for game feel. You're comfortable reasoning about its elusive qualitative aspects and can build real concrete solutions to improve or debug game feel related features.
• Have a high level of proficiency in one or more of the following platforms: UE4/UE5/C++ or a proprietary game engine.
• When you don't have pressing responsibilities, you take initiative. There are so many things to build; you're rarely idle.
• You find time to play video games and empathize deeply with our players, because you love games.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Implement user facing gameplay features and the gameplay systems that underpin them.
• Craft pragmatic, reliable shipping code.
• Follow a coding standard, engage in code reviews, and help evolve these craft processes.
• Use social skills to communicate to the team and leadership the tradeoffs of different code solutions, possible solutions for impossible goals, and how to limit and reduce risks.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of content creators to weave their assets with gameplay simulation into a whole cloth of player experience.
• Bring passion for helping our team do amazing things.
