Role Title: Fraud Research Analyst

Location: San Mateo, San Diego

We are looking for individuals that are passionate about our brand and combating fraud, have a high sense of integrity, and excel in building positive relationships! Our team partners with cross-functional internal teams to lead and drive forward multiple simultaneous strategic projects for fraud mitigation. You will lead efforts that require deftly balancing multiple external relationships including those with game publishers, fraud solution suppliers, and fraud industry organizations.

We need team members with a strong understanding of online fraud, the incentives of fraudsters, the hunger to outsmart them, the creativity to think like them, and an ability to use new and existing tools to halt them. The person in this role will be a fraud domain specialist.

We are committed to building a next-generation fraud and risk platform that will support the global, fast growing PlayStation® Network customer base, outstanding PlayStation® consoles, PlayStation® Direct, PlayStation® Music, PlayStation® Video, and PlayStation® Now.

Your primary responsibilities will be finding new fraud on the PlayStation platform. Using a variety of inquiry and analysis tools and techniques, you will analyze data, identify fraud and abuse behavior, and make recommendations to mitigate it.

What you'll be doing:
• Detects patterns of cyber-fraud behavior through proactive investigation of customer, transaction, or other activity data
• Develops crisp and thought-provoking analyses on targeted activities, behaviors, and mitigations
• Investigates abuse and fraud examples, searching for new patterns of undesirable activity
• Communicates analysis results, critical metrics, investigation results, and mitigation efforts
• Supports creation of mitigation approaches and recommendations for fraud products and processes
• Performs research and fraud data analyses requested by the fraud team
• Helps communicate fraud metrics and reports on fraud mitigation efforts

What we're looking for:
• 5+ years demonstrated ability in eCommerce fraud risk mitigation
• Adept at understanding fraud behavior and finding undiscovered fraud patterns
• Comfortable discussing threats and opportunities in risk environments
• Passionate at solving unconventional problems in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to conduct research using proprietary and open-source intelligence
• Hands-on experience with SQL, Splunk, and data visualization tools
• Experience preparing sophisticated analyses for fraud, security, and/or payments
• Collaborative communications that promote good working relationships with others
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with geographically remote teams
• Takes personal accountability for the delivery of individual and team objectives
• Flexible approach to working hours to support global business operations
• Must be self-motivated and results oriented
• BA/BS Degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualities:
• Big data experience
• Familiarity with digital media software and networking technologies, especially those related to Sony's products, services, and devices
• Japanese language skills
