About Virtual Production:
Virtual Production is an umbrella term for a spectrum of computer-aided production and visualization filmmaking methods which combine virtual and augmented reality with CGI and game-engine technologies to enable production crews to see their scenes unfold as they are composed and captured on set. Virtual Art Department bridges concept art and previs via real-time animation by developing real-time assets from initial look development to production-ready models and environments. VAD assures consistency and high quality across all real-time models and acts as a liaison between creatives and artists, delivering camera-ready assets for production and ICVFX.
The VP Manager is a central position ensuring the successful production management of projects leveraging virtual production and associated departments. This includes facilitating and liaising with pipeline development, the virtual art department, interactive previs teams, engine techvis teams, vfx production management, and LED volume stage production management. The VP manager will work closely with VP Supervisors, VP Art Directors, and UE Pipeline Leads ensuring deadlines are met, resources are maintained, lanes of communication are tidy, and morale is steadily positive. Finally, they work closely with resourcing and production teams to successfully deliver projects to the LED volume stage team for ICVFX.
Responsibilities:
• Offer and support communication standards between departments
• Daily reporting of team responsibilities and targets.
• Oversee and manage VP resources across all projects supporting production teams and the resource manager.
• Facilitate notes and feedback to team members and supervisors.
• Support Pipeline development initiatives and work closely with Pipeline managers/coordinators.
• Ensure resources are effectively assigned and team members' time is being utilized to its fullest.
• Ensure tasks are delivered on time in accordance with the project schedule.
• Maintain Shotgrid tasks and schedules; ensure forecasts are maintained and updated in Shotgrid crew planning
• Scheduling of production milestones and deliveries.
• Deliver project post mortems and ensure wrap procedures are adhered to.
• Work with counterparts in international studios on cross-site projects.
• Maintain a positive and professional working environment.
• Run weekly department-specific production meetings, scrums, and follow-ups
Required skills:
• Extensive knowledge of a VFX pipeline.
• Experience with Production budgeting and resource planning.
• Experience with scheduling and forecasting.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, or G Suite.
• Strong knowledge of Shotgrid or similar production management tools and databases.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication skills and a diplomatic approach to daily management.
• Ability to multitask and delegate
