Sales Manager, Penguin Random House (Open to Remote)
The Sales Department at Penguin Random House seeks a Sales Manager to join our Adult In-House Sales team. The person in this role has a passion for reading and will be responsible for communicating PRH Adult title information to an assigned account base by phone and email.
Our sales managers maintain a knowledge of current and future seasons' titles, as well as a large backlist catalog. Daily responsibilities could include calls with independent bookstores, managing a very busy Inbox of email communication, attending publisher meetings, contributing to regional meetings with other Sales Managers, providing marketplace feedback as needed, analyzing sales data, as well as smoothly managing competing priorities.
Our ideal candidate has bookstore or publisher experience, is highly motivated, enthusiastic about publishing, and enjoys reading broadly and often. We are looking for a detail-oriented, meticulous self-starter who loves books of all types and is invested in the process of bringing them to a wide readership, has strong writing skills, communicates clearly , is comfortable asking for help when needed, wants to be an active participant on a collaborative team, and can handle the details of immediately urgent tasks but also remember to step back, consider the big picture, and adjust strategy when needed.

The Role:
• Sell adult frontlist and backlist titles to assigned account base
• Build and maintain successful relationships with new and existing customers
• Keep abreast of front and backlist titles and industry trends in order to present accounts with titles most appropriate for their consumers
• Maintain knowledge of Penguin Random House terms of sale, publicity & marketing initiatives, etc. to ensure accounts are able to benefit from available opportunities
• Manage database of accounts, account details, and sales figures
• Communicate and collaborate with Sales Director, publishing colleagues, and sales teams (including sales counterparts) to maximize growth
• Coordinate with sales management and publishing about orders, inventory, and other related components
The Essentials:
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience; retail bookstore experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of and passion for books; varied reading interests
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including follow-up
• Proven ability to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities at one time
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Works well independently and in a team setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel
• Ability to travel periodically to trade shows, conferences, and accounts as needed
• Experience with SAP and Edelweiss is a plus
The salary for this position is $63,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.

The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
