Publishing Assistant, Penguin Workshop (Open to Remote)

The Publishers and Associate Publisher at Penguin Workshop are currently seeking an Assistant to support them that has a true love of books.

This position provides administrative support to Penguin Workshop's publishing office.

Penguin Workshop publishes approximately 250 books a year for every kind of reader, from birth to age 12+. You'll find unique board books, beautiful picture books, laugh-out-loud chapter books, graphic novels, YA fiction and the New York Times Best-Selling Who HQ series, Mad Libs, and Penguin's award-winning leveled reader program.

This is an opportunity to learn about children's book publishing, be part of a diverse and collaborative team, assist with editorial projects, and work on a broad range of books and imprints, including Penguin Workshop, Mad Libs, World of Eric Carle, Grosset & Dunlap, Penguin Young Readers Licenses, and Warne.

Responsibilities:
• Provide daily administrative support for the Associate Publisher; VP and Publisher, G&D, Licenses & Brands; President & Publisher, Workshop
• Tasks include calendar management, filing and mailings, working across a variety of proprietary online systems, scheduling meetings and calls, booking travel, and more
• Research potential properties for the Publisher and assist with author and illustrator management, including literary agents, illustration reps, and creative studios
• Communicate with Publicity, Marketing, Sales, and all other key team members within Penguin Young Readers
• Review and evaluate manuscripts, write rejection letters, and respond on behalf of Workshop's Publisher
• Assist with P&Ls, production estimates, cover copy, and other editorial administrative tasks
• Assist with departmental spending, maintaining monthly departmental T&E, and scheduling and facilitating internal launch presentations and digital decks
• Provide brand updates and maintain departmental directory

Requirements:
• Prior administrative support experience required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Outlook
• Excellent written, communication, and organizational skills
• Proven ability to multi-task in a deadline driven environment, with strong attention to detail and great problem-solving skills
• Appreciation for all kinds of readers, diverse interest in books, and creativity a plus!

The salary for this position is $48,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results. Please apply using our online application process and include your resume and cover letter.
