Publicity Assistant, Del Rey Books (Hybrid)

The Random House publicity department is currently seeking a Publicity Assistant to join the Del Rey Books team. Dual reporting to the VP Senior Director of Publicity & Marketing and the Publicity Manager at Del Rey, this position provides an intensive education in trade book publishing in a fast-paced, exciting, and highly collaborative environment.  The Del Rey Publicity Assistant role is the ideal position for a curious, confident, self-motivated person who is a voracious reader of genre fiction, understands the pop culture space, and is interested in learning how to execute publicity strategy.

This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).

Responsibilities:
• Assists senior publicity staff with high profile media campaigns for bestselling authors.
• Communicates with media, booksellers, in-house colleagues, and authors.
• Creates and manages details in author itineraries.
• Updates internal documents and systems.
• Coordinates mailings, publicity materials, and review copy requests.
• Organizes travel and hotel logistics for author tours and special events.
• Processes invoices, maintains title budgets for supervisors' campaigns, and helps with data entry related to campaigns.
• Performs online research to acquire publicity contacts and updating media lists.
• Works on additional assignments, projects, and responsibilities as needed.

Requirements:
• Strong interest in book publishing, publicity and media relations, and genre fiction
• Interest in national and regional media, notably in science fiction, fantasy, horror, fantasy-romance, and pop culture spaces
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to juggle priorities in a deadlines-driven, fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Self-starter who takes initiative and wants to learn and grow
• An avid reader of genre fiction who enjoys participating in fandom and the pop culture zeitgeist
• Proficiency with social media, internet research, and Microsoft Office Suite

The salary for this position is $51,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.

The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
