Metadata Assistant, RHCB (Open to Remote)

Are you passionate about children's books and interested in gaining experience in the publishing industry? Random House Children's Books is seeking a Metadata Assistant to join the publishing team to identify opportunities and develop strategies to increase the visibility of our titles online. This position offers a unique perspective on the ins and outs of children's publishing, as well big-picture insights into the publishing industry overall. The role is ideal for a self-starter who is extremely organized, loves to learn new things, and excels at multi-tasking in a fun, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:
• Quality check and troubleshoot issues for new and existing retailer product pages for all titles
• Maintain and optimize online retailer book descriptive copy and post book review quotes
• Work with Metadata Manager to track trending search terms and incorporate learnings into effective campaign messaging in online retailer copy
• Utilize in-house reporting tools to optimize book descriptive copy and all related metadata categories
• Project manage, brainstorm ideas, and upload files for online marketing retailer assets
• Maintain a digital archive of all retailer assets and interior book spreads for sales teams
• Review our catalogue to identify missing metadata fields; working with editorial teams to ensure all titles are optimized
• Serve as a point of contact between Publishing, Editorial, and Corporate teams on all issues related to retailer sites
• Pull data reports and create presentations for competitive research initiatives, online retailer book descriptive copy best practices, and metadata reviews
• Provide support for the Senior Manager of PubOps & Metadata Optimization and manage adhoc projects and daily tasks as needed

Qualifications:
• An ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail oriented, energetic, and a team player
• Eagerness to learn and the ability to adapt to new processes and systems
• Ability to work independently, creatively, and meet deadlines
• Proactive with a strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• A data-driven mindset to solve problems and look for process improvements
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Basic knowledge of Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator is a plus, but not required
• College degree or relevant work experience required
• Strong interest in children's books, young adult publishing is a plus

Entry-level salary for this position is $45,000.
