Job Description
We are currently seeking a Marketing Manager to join our team responsible for marketing Viking, Pamela Dorman Books, Penguin Life, The Open Field, Penguin Books and Penguin Classics, imprints which publish a range of fiction and nonfiction from bestselling and award-winning authors. Reporting to the Associate Marketing Director, you will have the opportunity to oversee all aspects of marketing for assigned titles, collaborate across teams on imprint-wide campaigns and initiatives, and work closely with authors.

About the team:

As part of the Viking Penguin marketing department, you will work with powerhouse authors on books that shape national conversation and culture. We publish books from world-renowned academics and leaders who command the TED stage and inspire new ways of thinking; from beloved fiction authors whose novels make their way to the top of the New York Times bestseller list and into readers' hearts; and from wellness experts who arm readers with tools, insights, and encouragement to live fuller, healthier lives. Authors we publish include Amor Towles, Tana French, Adam Grant, Sarah Thankam Matthews, Dr. Uché Blackstock, Matt Haig, and Rebecca Makkai, among many others.
Our team shepherds more than 100 new books into the world each year, and is trusted with marketing and maintaining a treasured backlist packed with perennial bestsellers. Marketers are constantly seeking new points of discovery with readers, including but not limited to data-driven advertising strategies, outreach to buzz-building influencers, and seeding organic content on our own platforms. The imprint social media channels we manage combine to reach more than two million readers, and we strategize with authors on how to activate their own well-established or newly growing audiences.

As a Marketing Manager, you will:
• Generate, implement, and analyze creative marketing campaigns in conjunction with the Associate Marketing Director and work independently to execute plans
• Coordinate digital advertising campaigns by strategizing targeting and copy, and collaborating with an internal design department on creative concepts and direction
• Develop imprint and author social media strategy around a book's release, including content creation, messaging and audience activation
• Identify and conduct outreach to potential publication partners (influencers, networks, organizations, brands, etc.)
• Communicate key campaign updates with internal stakeholders, and externally with authors and agents
• Contribute to social media accounts across all imprints and platforms

Requirements:
• Minimum 4 years prior related experience in publishing, marketing, publicity, or social media, with experience working on creative and strategic campaigns
• Prior experience writing advertising copy or briefs for creative teams, with fluency in leading digital advertising platforms, benchmarks, and metrics
• Working knowledge of established and emerging social media platforms, with experience generating content for brand or author channels; interest in spotting and contributing to trending content preferred
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks, keep track of deadlines, and work collaboratively across teams
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
• Clear and effective presentation and written communication skills

If you're an innovative marketer, publishing professional or social media/digital communication specialist in constant search of discovering new ways of reaching readers or consumers and are comfortable synthesizing analytics and sales trends as you are dreaming up viral social media campaigns, this is an opportunity you don't want to miss!
