The Random House Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House, seeks a Managing Editorial Assistant to join its Christian imprints team. The role will provide administrative and managing editorial support for an impressive list of fiction and nonfiction trade titles and various gift and children's products. The Managing Editorial Assistant role offers the opportunity for growth and to learn about the overall bookmaking process and the inner workings of a publishing office.
Daily responsibilities include all-around project support in the creation of various imprint lists across the Random House Group's Christian imprints, including but not limited to, WaterBrook, Multnomah, and Ink & Willow. Working together as a team, the Managing Editorial department tracks various aspects of the schedules for manuscripts, cover design, and marketing materials to ensure that each manuscript becomes a finished book-considering stakeholder needs and negotiating a process that works for everyone-as well as maintaining public bibliographical information in our various databases. The job is an exciting opportunity to get an overview of the publishing process and acts as a point of contact with various departments across RHPG, including but not limited to editorial, production, design, marketing, sales, and publicity.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, meticulous self-starter who enjoys all types of Christian books found in bookstores, and who is invested in the process of bringing them to a wide readership, has strong analytical skills, communicates clearly, and will be an active participant in a collaborative team. Someone who also has an affinity for learning new software is a plus. The ideal candidate will manage a diverse set of responsibilities efficiently and effectively, is comfortable asking for help when needed, and who understands the need to maintain deadlines.

The Role:
• Route and track cover-copy materials for approval and maintain deadlines
• Update and/or create various reports to keep stakeholders on track and inform fellow bookmakers of delivery status
• Review titles up for reprint and process corrections for the next printings.
• Update data in SAP and the FileMaker Pro databases as needed
• Assist with providing reports and other materials for various meetings, including sending out meeting invites, as necessary
• Provide watermarked PDFs of book interiors when requested by certain stakeholders
• Provide general administrative support to the Managing Editorial department, backing up colleagues, and assisting with special projects
• Learn book industry standards for bibliographic information, ISBNs, grammar, and general book conventions
• Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Managing Editor

The salary for this position is $48,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.

The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
