Job Description
The Audio division of Penguin Random House is seeking a detail-oriented self-starter to join our team as a Junior Financial Analyst. This position will provide support to the finance team in managing and analyzing the day-to-day operations of the division. Specifically, this position will have an active role in monthly reporting and analysis, forecasting and ad hoc analysis. It will have the primary responsibility for providing support for the fast-growing imprints in the PRH Audio business. This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative and motivated person who is looking to grow and learn about how a financial team supports a highly successful audio publishing division.

Responsibilities:
• Manage monthly financial closings, including detailed analyses of sales, cost of goods sold, operating expenses, accurals and title count.
• Create monthly summaries of financial performance and key performance indicators for the Audio and corporate teams.
• Prepare formal quarterly forecasts for corporate submissions using Anaplan software.
• Prepare frequent forecasts for our content licensing partners of potential future royalty earnings.
• Assist editorial staff in content acquisition and postmortem analysis of previous acquisitions.
• Assist marketing staff with managing price promotions and future priorities.
• Assist on special projects (for example creating plans for new investments and business models, sales trend analyses, cost studies, profitability analyses, and account analysis).
• Enhancing and increasing speed of monthly reporting, analysis and business intelligence utilizing software skills such as Microsoft Power BI.

Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
• Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel (including vlookups and pivot tables) and PowerPoint.
• Strong business and analytical skills, including an understanding of basic financial and accounting principles.
• Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Attention to detail and accuracy, ideally combined with an ability to see the big picture.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues across all levels and functions
• Ability to take initiative and to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Prior work experience within the book publishing or media industry is a plus
• BS in Acct./Finance or MBA preferred (but will consider candidates from other degree backgrounds with relevant experience and keen interest in the publishing industry
• Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI, Anaplan, and Business Objects preferred
• Additional to above, data scientist skills including perhaps R and Python would set you apart.
• Stong interest in the publishing industry and a love for books are strong pluses

The salary range for this position is $58,000-60,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
