The WaterBrook and Multnomah imprints of Penguin Random House are looking for an Editorial Assistant to join their team. WaterBrook and Multnomah publish books that equip and inspire readers to thrive in their Christian faith amid the complexities and opportunities of life.

At WaterBrook, the daily responsibilities of the Editorial Assistant include all-around project support for the editors, calendar and meeting management, proposal/manuscript reading and submission management, research, building reports, soliciting endorsements, drafting flap and catalog copy, and brainstorming creative publishing approaches and solutions to help authors/books through the publication process.
Our ideal candidate is highly motivated, enthusiastic about publishing, and enjoys reading broadly and often. We are looking for a detail-oriented, meticulous self-starter who loves books of all types and is invested in the process of bringing them to a wide readership, has strong writing and analytical skills, communicates clearly , is comfortable asking for help when needed, and wants to be active participant on a collaborative team. If you can handle the details of immediately urgent tasks but also remember to step back, consider the big picture, and adjust your strategy when needed, you'll assume greater editorial responsibilities over time.
This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities, which will include but not be limited to executing mailings and participating in and contributing to in-person meetings with authors and agents. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance at our offices in Colorado Springs.

The Role:
• The editorial assistant will execute a variety of responsibilities to support the editorial team and publisher, including
• Providing administrative support, including scheduling meetings, attending meetings and taking minutes, making photocopies, mailing/shipping packages, etc.
• Researching trends and competition, including sales data on comparative titles
• Supporting editors in evaluating proposals and manuscripts, logging submissions, drafting rejection letters
• Initiating profit-and-loss statements for review
• Preparing manuscripts for transmission to production
• Drafting descriptive copy for jackets and title information sheets
• Running reports on competitive titles, sales histories, and related matters using internal and external resources
• Coordinating endorsement requests
• Providing room setup for author and agent visits and team meetings
• Drafting contract information sheets
• Facilitating author and agent communication
• Collaborating with all in-house departments (publicity, marketing, sales, production, design, etc.)
• Processing expense reports
• Tracking due dates for editors and assisting with manuscript transmittal to production, title information sheets, endorsements, and more
• Additional tasks as required
The Essentials:

• A team player and has the ability to build harmonious working relationships with internal departments, authors, agents, and other external stakeholders
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
The salary for this position is $48,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
Penguin Random House job postings include a good faith compensation range for each open position. The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
