The editorial team at Del Rey is seeking an Assistant to report to the Editorial Directors of Licensed Nonfiction and Fiction at Del Rey, handling licensed projects for high-profile brands such as Star Wars, Stranger Things, Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, Minecraft, and more . The position allows you to immerse yourself in a creative and hands-on department dedicated to creating best-in-class licensed books. We are a highly collaborative team who love to bring our authentic style of nerdery to our favorite pop culture worlds. The Editorial Assistant will be responsible for daily editorial activities and administrative support.

part of a team and willing to go the extra mile for authors and licensing partners.
As we are close to the Spring graduation season, we welcome graduating seniors to apply interested in working in editorial and can start full time no later than May 30, 2022. Being a college senior or having a college degree are not requirements for this role.
The Role:
• Overseeing the scheduling and preparation of materials for departmental meetings
• Writing catalog/flap copy (the synopsis/sell of the book) and fact sheets
• Creating and maintaining departmental pub plans and schedules
• Submitting various materials to relevant licensor approval systems
• Assisting with author, licensor, and agent communications and requests
• Taking and distributing minutes for recurring departmental meetings
• Running and distributing sales reports by pulling data from internal systems
• Representing the imprint at possible trade and consumer shows
• Evaluating manuscripts, outlines, and proposals
• Brainstorming new story ideas and book formats
• Helping to track current and upcoming pop-culture trends across a variety of entertainment mediums
The Essentials:
• Genuine interest in licensed publishing and pop culture
• Strong organizational, scheduling, and time management skills
• Talent for creative writing and narrative development
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
• Strong ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
• Collaborative and curious, willing to take on additional projects for editors in-house
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Familiarity with SAP is a plus but not a requirement (training available)
• Excellent communication and organizational skills are needed to succeed in this role
• Candidates should thrive in a fast-paced work environment that necessitates managing complicated schedules and attention to administrative detail
