Director, Finance - Audio (Open to remote)
We are searching for a Director of Finance to oversee the financial operations and strategy of our fast-growing audiobook publishing business. You will be responsible for managing the financial planning, reporting, and compliance functions of the division as well as providing strategic guidance and analysis to the senior management team. You will also lead and mentor a team of finance professionals and ensure that the division adheres to the highest standards of financial integrity while driving growth and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
• Identify, monitor, and communicate trends, risks, and opportunities in our business and the industry that may impact the financial performance of the division.
• Manage the financial planning and analysis processes, including forecasting, variance analysis, and scenario modeling.
• Prepare and present monthly financial performance and KPI reports to the senior management team.
• Analyze the key drivers of revenue and expenses, such as sales volume, pricing, cost of goods sold, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
• Drive continued business intelligence improvements through tools like Power BI since we handle a high volume of new books every year and a large catalogue of titles overall.
• Support and assist other departments in the division with financial matters, including editorial content acquisition and constant evaluation of past acquisitions.
• Collaborate with other finance teams across the organization to ensure alignment and consistency in reporting and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant company financial policies, accounting standards and audit requirements.
Requirements:
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or audit, preferably in the publishing, media, or entertainment industry.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial software and tools (Power BI, Anaplan and SAP would be beneficial).
• A strategic thinker with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for audiobooks and the publishing industry.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $135,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus subject to company results.
