Sr. Director, Interconnection Technology

Job Description

Manage the current and future architecture and design of the Public Television Interconnection System. Work closely with the Project Lead(s) to ensure continued function of the current Interconnection system and contribute to the development of the next iteration of public broadcasting Interconnection.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Leverage client, vendor, and stakeholder engagement to lead the definition of current and ongoing interconnection technical needs.
• Conduct technology and business research, assessment, and analysis
• Evaluate, comment and approve Vendor provided Architectural, Design and Test Documentation for both on-premise and in cloud-based environments.
• Oversee and approve Vendor implementation of said Architecture, Design and Test
• Evaluate, comment, and approve operational and procedural practices.
• Contribute to all Interconnection business and technical activities to ensure continued function of the PBS Interconnection system.
• Engage with Interconnection Stakeholders and User Community
• Represent PBS at internal committee meetings and external industry forums. Oversee technical reports, technical evaluations and case studies, presentations and other documents as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements for success:
• Conduct technology and business research, assessment, and analysis
• Negotiation and direct management of Grants, RFP's and vendor contracts
• Stakeholder relationship management that marries disciplined processes with innovation and flexibility
• Successful relationships with clients
• Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels of seniority.
• Skillfully manage relationships with stakeholders, staff, stations, vendors, and customers.
• Strong technical vendor management skills
• Familiarity with applicable SMPTE, IEEE, ATSC, ITU, EDIR and other relevant industry standards
• Experience in AWS cloud environments and interfaces preferred.
• Experience in public broadcasting preferred.
• Required: 10+ years' experience in technology project oversight and leadership
• Preferred: Technical management experience in media distribution, streaming media, broadcast operations, and/or satellite communications
• Bachelor's degree in business or engineering.
• Master's degree in IT or Engineering preferred.
