Project Manager, PBS KIDS (Hybrid)

Department: Marketing and Brand Engagement

Corporate Area: PBS KIDS

Status: Full-time/Grant/Exempt (funded through June 30, 2025)

Supervisor: Director, Promotion and Brand Strategy

Position Overview:

PBS KIDS is looking for a dynamic Project Manager to support a highly visible, grant-funded brand initiative. Under the direction of the Director, PBS KIDS Promotion & Brand Strategy, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of a multi-stage, brand-centric project. Major components of this individual's responsibilities will be spearheading engagement with PBS member stations; managing the request for proposals process; and coordinating grant disbursements, as well as training, contracting and reporting. The Project Manager will also be responsible for project-related communications, serving as the primary point-of-contact for PBS member stations, the PBS Foundation and internal business units. The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex, multifaceted projects and working closely with a diverse range of collaborators.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Manage daily grant and project administration. This includes:

• Serving as a compliance and subject matter expert on grant terms, funder agreement, PBS policies and PBS' membership matrix

• Acting as the primary point-of-contact with PBS member stations, internal business units like the PBS Foundation and Station Services, and with external vendors/agencies. Fostering relationships and building strong communication channels will be key

• Developing and managing a detailed project schedule that identifies and sequences the activities needed to meet objectives

• Ensuring all work is delivered on time, within scope, and within budget; provide regular reports on progress and key performance metrics. This includes quarterly reports and annual summaries

• Documenting grant process and activities to comply with corporate policies, grant terms and funder requests

• Maintaining a digital folder of grant-related assets (e.g. contracts, reports) that stakeholders can easily access

• Managing project budget

• Manage station engagement, including grant proposal and execution process. This includes:

• Overseeing proposal development

• Creating application process and managing applicant inquiries

• Managing the grant disbursement process

• Soliciting submissions through internal newsletters and intranet portals

• Ensuring grant funds are distributed in a timely manner

• Monitoring monthly expenses and awardee progress to ensure compliance

• Support Marketing and Creative needs:

• Collaborating with PBS KIDS Creative and Production teams to develop and execute strategy and rollout of brand assets created as part of the project

• Collaborating with Legal and Marketing teams to implement contracting and brand management processes

• Attending and participating in all brand, marketing, production and matrix team meetings related to this initiative. In many cases, the Project Manager will be on point to organize and lead these meetings

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements for success:
• 3-5 years project management and/or grant management experience

• Bachelors' degree in business, communications, branding or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

• Excellent project management skills

• Detail-oriented, analytical thinker with strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make effective public presentations

• Strong interpersonal skills to support relationships with member stations and internal departments

• Experience identifying and reporting on key performance metrics

• Experience managing budgets

• An ability to learn new systems quickly, including adapting/improving processes for greater efficiency

• Proven ability to work on multiple tasks with competing priorities

• Demonstrated success working in a team environment with diverse groups of people

• Adept in using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Knowledge of project management tools and software

• Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.
