PBS takes a multiplatform approach to content development, distribution, and marketing.

The Manager, Multiplatform Digital Production produces and maintains digital-first video for PBS.org, the PBS app and YouTube, companion content for direct-to-PBS shows, and websites for direct-to-PBS programs and priority initiatives. This individual manages streaming across PBS platforms, content strategy for multiplatform content and the PBS app, and maintenance through the full life cycle of each show.

Collaborates with departments across the organization (e.g. Publicity, Business Intelligence, Programming, and Legal), as well as with other groups within PBS Multiplatform Marketing & Content (e.g. Social Media, Audience Engagement, Product Development, Digital Design and Platform Operations) and with show creators at all stages of the show's digital lifecycle.

This multimedia production-focused position supports initiatives to increase engagement, average video streams and streaming duration as well as time on site, and also supports the leveraging of PBS digital and social platforms and content to benefit member stations. This position works within the Multiplatform Production team and collaborates closely with the Digital Video Operations, Social and Audience Engagement teams.

Essential duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Manage the full life cycle of assigned programs, from asset-gathering and acceptance to build-out, promotion, evergreening and maintenance of shows on PBS platforms. In addition, this work includes updating show pages across all platforms for rebroadcasts, and assisting with custom website builds.
• Create original written and multimedia content for PBS shows, producing engaging digital-exclusive material (utilizing producer-provided source material, Adobe Creative Suite tools and more). This includes original blog posts, episode recaps, GIFs, factoids, quizzes, timelines, film viewing kits, and more.
• Collaborate on multimedia production content for direct-to-PBS programs within the PBS Articles platform, working closely with colleagues within the Multiplatform Production team and across other Content Marketing teams to identify opportunities for show support. Write original articles, source and produce article content and interactives surrounding program material and other marketing initiatives.
• Support Multiplatform Production team in developing strategic partnerships for creative across direct-to-PBS programs, companion websites, the PBS app, PBS Articles and YouTube, assisting with partner relationships and creative execution
• Collaborate closely with Audience Engagement, Brand Strategy, Programming and program/station producers to copy edit and modify program copy to strengthen and drive PBS brand voice across digital platforms. Work with the Multiplatform Production team to ensure all editorial content supports SEO goals and best practices.
• Support the Multiplatform Production Team with video segmentation strategy to increase viewership and engagement with PBS content created for YouTube.
• Manage direct day-to-day operations to support PBS Multiplatform Marketing & Content objectives for tune-in and streaming across the PBS Passport library.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the PBS digital publishing process and tools and use this to inform production timelines.
• Collaborate with internal staff and external producers to ensure that websites and digital video follow PBS production requirements, including technical and editorial standards.
• Collaborate with the Multiplatform Production team's SEO manager to ensure multiplatform content follows best practices for search optimization.
• Make recommendations on changes in internal processes; update specs documentation as technical requirements change.
• Collaborate with PBS Business Intelligence Group to track and analyze website and online video traffic across complex, cross-functional projects.
• Digital and social-first content experience is a plus.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements for success:
• Bachelor's degree in communications, media, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience in digital content production and project management may be considered
• 2+ years' experience in digital publishing or media production; with experience in content strategy, content creation, interactive media production, mobile web, and/or interactive media development
• Experience working on cross-functional teams including creative, technical, business affairs and marketing staff
• Experience with making autonomous editorial decisions
• Project management experience on complex, cross-functional projects
• Digital media experience preferred
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to collaborate across teams and with all levels of staff
• Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and execute overlapping assignments
