Position Overview:

We are seeking a Data Governance Manager for an Audience Engagement grant. The Manager will assist the cross-functional grant team in their efforts to modernize of the audience experience across PBS web and mobile products. The grant-funded project aims to expand the capacity for PBS and PBS Member Stations to grow prospective audiences, engage them more deeply and entice them to become members of their local PBS station.

You will be part of a team that supports development of unique and compelling experiences across all digital touch points. To enhance these experiences this role will support efforts that include implementing audience segmentation tools, recommendation engine technologies, data analysis, innovative data collection methodologies, audience engagement tactics, tailored marketing, membership campaigns, and more. These will introduce PBS and PBS Member Stations to new audiences and keep them relevant in the ever-evolving media landscape.

The Data Governance Manager will ensure the grant team achieves the greatest value possible from the data it collects and uses. Ideally you will have experience working on an established Data Governance team and be seeking to bring that expertise to a program you can build from the ground up. You will be responsible for designing and documenting Data Governance standards, policies, and procedures. Communication will be key as you then lead the implementation of those new tools. You will be a champion for clean, well-documented data at one of America's most trusted brands!

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Document and communicate standards, technical/business metadata, common definitions, and any integrations of existing key data sets.

• Collaborate with a wide variety of product/engineering teams to ensure data collection adheres to these standards.

• Seek to minimize duplicate data silos and align similar data points to common standards across multiple datasets.

• Assist in developing policies and procedures that manage Data Privacy and Cybersecurity.

• Document who has access to data, the types of permissions and formats they have access to, the reasons for that access and procedures for providing access to additional staff.

• Define standards, procedures and/or templates for establishing and on-boarding new datasets.

• Establish and communicate standards and procedures for sharing data between internal teams and external partners.

• Assist data consumers with appropriate access to the data they need and provide them with documentation and training about the structure and standards of the data.

• Advise teams on the value of Data Governance and Data Governance best practices.

• Document and communicate instances where data diverges from defined standards and record the nature and timeline for resolutions to those discrepancies.

• Develop and document procedures for archiving and/or preserving data.

• Establish goals for Data Governance and develop a project plan that takes an iterative approach to swiftly achieving measurable outcomes mapped to those goals.

Requirements for success:
• Minimum 2-3 years' experience working as part of a Data Governance team.

• Bachelor's degree. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

• 2-3 years' experience working with digital analytics and/or audience or membership datasets preferred.

• Ability to learn and adopt new technologies quickly.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to function and to adapt to new goals, practices, etc. within a dynamic work environment.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance overlapping deadlines.

• Ability to work independently and proactively, exercising sound judgment.

• Ability to collaborate as a team player with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.

• Proactively stays current in requisite skills within job scope and incorporates knowledge and other feedback into work.

• Consistently demonstrates respect for inclusion, diversity, and ethics.

• An ingrained sense of how to take an iterative approach to solving problems and building solutions.
