Associate Designer, Emerging Tech

Job Description

We are seeking a multi-passionate and self-motivated Associate Designer to create 3D assets and product designs that leverage emerging technologies.

As an Associate Designer specializing in emerging technology projects, you will play a critical role in our Innovation team, assisting on cutting-edge projects in Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (XR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and everything in between. This role requires a combination of creative design skills, a passion for technology, and the ability to bring immersive experiences to life. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative solutions that push the boundaries of user interaction and engagement.

For this role, ''design'' means you will:
• Create and prototype immersive experiences in AR, VR, XR and AI, ensuring they align with project goals and requirements.
• Collaborate across teams to brainstorm and conceptualize ideas for interactive and immersive content
• Use industry-standard software and tools to create 2D and 3D assets, animations and interactive elements.
• Provide design solutions that reflect a basic understanding of user needs and enhance user experiences within emerging technology platforms
• Prepare designs and prototypes for user testing
• Collaborate with multiple people and teams, while owning the end-to-end design process for your work
• Provide implementation guidance to engineers to ensure the implemented product aligns with your vision

Requirements:
• Hands-on experience with leveraging applications to create and problem-solve the complex structural art foundations of a project with 3D asset optimization in mind.
• Experience working on a project team that created interactive prototypes using research and design thinking methods.
• The ability and willingness to learn any new technologies and apply them at work to stay ahead of the curve.
• Experience with video, animation, or motion design is a plus.

This role sits on the product development design team and is also a part of the innovation team, which is grant-funded for a 3 year term. We collaborate closely with fellow members of the Product, Design, Engineering, Marketing, Fundraising, and Business Intelligence teams to conceptualize, design and develop groundbreaking interactive experiences across PBS core products, platforms and services for audiences and member stations.
