Job Description
OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Paramount seeks a Copy Director skilled in developing and writing creative content across print, video, and digital platforms for a wide scope of projects. Develop materials for various projects that position individual services and the company for trade, consumer, and employee audiences. We are looking for someone who can collaborate across the department with design and video teams, and constantly drive the creative vision forward on all projects!
- Conceptualizes and writes a variety of creative copy promoting and positioning Paramount for internal, partner and consumer audiences.
- Develops strategic creative concepts tailored to meet the goals of the client and the brand's objectives through unique ideas that resonate with the target audience.
- Collaborates closely with VP, Editorial and partners with creatives teams in copy, design, video and production to drive creative ideas forward and guide the most effective conceptual, verbal and visual execution of projects. Generates brand strategies, marketing plans and other materials that position our company and brands.
- Reviews current materials and meets with clients to present materials.
- Creative directs within project teams to communicate strategies and develop corresponding creative executions.
- Develops and communicates strategies and corresponding creative executions.
- Supervises copywriters, helping to set and adhere to goals, provide coaching and manage day-to-day concerns to ensure team performance. Leads copywriters on projects.
- Provides feedback on junior writers' work to ensure strategic alignment and creative quality.
- Proofreads all self-generated copy in layout and production stages of a project.
- Pressure tests creative at all stages to ensure effective user experience.
- Checks for accuracy and uniformity, as well as spelling, grammar and style.
- Drives projects forward as a strategic and creative leader.
- Builds the copy/editorial team as needed with the VP Editorial and grows the skills of existing team. Helps direct workload and assignments.
- Manages relationships with freelance writers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years' experience in copywriting, strategic branding, editorial writing, speech writing and copy editing at a manager or senior manager level.
- High-level copywriting proficiency across diverse formats, including but not limited to messaging frameworks, video and talent scripts, campaign assets, headlines, naming, social assets and agency RFPs.
- Creative direction skills and the ability to develop strategies guiding project teams to build successful concepts for multi-platform campaigns.
- Training and/or experience in people management.
- Bachelor's degree.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- English, Advertising or Marketing major preferred.
- Agency or in-house experience preferred.
- Preference for experience in the media/entertainment industry preferred.
- Coordinate, edit, and craft copy and content from inception to completion on various projects.
- Excel as a problem solver, fostering innovative ways and encouraging others to do the same.
- Proficient in Apple operating systems and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, Outlook, and Slack.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $124,000.00 - 155,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
