Associate Engineer Media Systems Support (Overnights 7pm-7am)
Overview & Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated individual that will be responsible for maintaining the technical integrity of Cloud and on-premise broadcast playout at a major Network Operations Center. This individual will ensure that all broadcast and IT infrastructure technical areas and services are provided to the highest standards! This individual will complete specific routine tasks as detailed by the supervisory and management staff.

Key responsibilities
• To provide technical support for all Broadcast Services related infrastructure, traditional playout systems, hybrid-cloud playout systems, and streaming technology to ensure the highest possible levels of technical and operational continuity to the Paramount Networks services and client networks by maintaining core infrastructure and system health, signal path integrity and signal quality throughout. The individual will also play a meaningful role in supporting highly secure and highly scalable solutions for application systems that are hosted on-prem or in public cloud (Azure, AWS and Google Cloud)!
• Align with Supervisor, SR. Manager and Director, Technical Operations on key business and technical requirements, standards, and methodologies
• Ability to develop well-written, meticulous user documentation and Root Cause Analysis when required
• Ability to use a wide-array of software and hardware tools to analyse and troubleshoot network health and the flow of media streams in the baseband and IP domains
• Comply to pertinent policies and procedures
• Author basic scripts and queries to audit and deploy live changes into important production environment
• Respond to, communicate, manage, and track technical issues in ServiceNow as they arise in a live 24/7 operations environment
• Bring up to Management, Engineering Support, and/or Infrastructure teams during high-priority incidents or during a loss of services
• Configure and troubleshoot complex cloud-based and traditional broadcast playout support systems, encompassing global distribution models. This involves addressing challenges in baseband video/audio, encoding, multiplexing, and RF entities
• Perform infrastructure equipment configuration, covering servers, mass storage devices, broadcast proprietary devices, and IT infrastructure equipment.
• Conduct configuration and troubleshooting of networking devices, which includes CLI-based device IP setup, firewall diagnostics, resolving VLAN and subnet configuration issues, identifying network routing problems, and addressing multicast-related issues.
• Troubleshoot various operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, Unix, MAC, and RTOS based systems.
• Respond to technical emergencies with timely triage and restoration of network outages
• Strong organizational and planning skills with ability to balance multiple time-sensitive assignments
• Use of technical drawings and documents to conduct diagnostics while under stress to restore failed systems
• Work closely with Paramount's L1, L2, and L3 teams for incident issues as well as to help develop collaborative documentation which we can demonstrate during future incidents
• Perform all other duties as necessary - assigned by their supervisor for efficient functioning of the department.

Basic Qualifications
• 2 to 5 years of experience in Information Technology or Broadcast Media environment
• At least one foundational IT certification required, including but not limited to CCNA, MCP, CompTIA A+/Network+, VMware Associate
• Ability to learn and exhibit engineering-level understanding of a variety of complex broadcast proprietary and IT infrastructure environments

Additional Qualifications
• Proficient in SMPTE standards for broadcast television and video production environments.
• Video routing systems, and knowledge of HD-SDI and/or SMPTE 2110.
• Knowledge of coordinated receiver decoders IRDs, core devices, edge devices, timing of video and audio systems, audio and video media file formats is a plus.
• Proficient in Evertz frame control using VistaLink or Magnum.
• Knowledgeable in Evertz EQX/EXE routers and associated monitoring software, including VLPRO, SDVN, VIP, VUE, MVP (experience in this area is advantageous).
• Familiarity with Nielsen (NACAT), EEG VANC equipment, Linear Acoustics, and EAS systems is desired.
• At least one foundational cloud certification, including but not limited Microsoft Certified: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA Cloud+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
• Clear understanding of potential business impact by Broadcast Infrastructure outages and service-level agreement breaches
• Superb communication skills, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Flexible view to changing technology environment
• Knowledge of cloud-based fundamentals and current technological offerings of vendors such as Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure
• Expertise in Data Center operations.
• Adept understanding of Network Management Systems, along with the protocols and methods applied for health monitoring.
• Knowledge of operating system installation and scripted deployment tools
• Knowledge of remote support tools and out-of-band management, such as RDP, VNC, Telnet, and SSH
• Proficient in scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent for efficient system management.
• Knowledge of basic network troubleshooting using ubiquitous OS tools (ex. ping, trace route, netstat)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $80,000.00 - 94,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
