We are looking for a Compliance Director to join our Business and Legal Affairs (''BALA'') team in London, the team continues to expand the Content Legal & Compliance division to support its award-winning commissioned content and in-house production house delivering to the entire portfolio of well-known channel brands and platforms.

The person in this role will lead and manage a team of compliance viewers and editors, ensuring first class compliance support is provided to the business in line with appropriate governance and processes.

What will you be doing?
• Support commissioners and producers in the creation and delivery of content that is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations (in the UK and in ex-UK markets where appropriate)
• Support the commercial and sponsorship business development team in delivering compliant campaigns, live events, competitions and other multi-media projects across all Paramount Global platforms and territories
• Build relationships with internal partners & senior management and key external stakeholders such as OFCOM, the ASA, BCAP, PACT, production companies and creative agencies, for example
• Contribute meaningfully to developing and delivering the vision and strategy for the Content Legal & Compliance team
• Continually assessing structure, systems and processes to improve working practices and efficiencies
• Drive the team to achieve goals and maintain high standards in a culture of regulatory excellence and changing landscapes
• Develop and broker solutions that manage risk and balance the interests of competing stakeholders, whilst ensuring the best interests and values of the company are upheld
• Encourage a climate of individual and team accountability to positively raise team profile internally and externally
• Advising on legal risks such as defamation, data protection and privacy, business terms and contracts e.g. T&Cs from a compliance perspective and on implications of new legislation in order to develop revenue generating initiatives.
• Supporting and advising on the entire creative process from development conversations through to delivery/premiere/execution.
• Advising on the regulatory and legal compliance of all content available via Paramount platforms, both in and outside the UK
• Attending live recordings/events/edits to provide on-hand compliance advice to production teams as required
• Advise on the creation and delivery of Paramount Global internal projects/release support such as Paramount films, streaming services etc
• Support new monetisation opportunities in SVOD/streaming, DtC, PRM, Events, AfP, digital/social.
• Approve PP integration working with business affairs colleagues to support integration in the content and approve end product
• Review and advise on kids advertising
• Attend Commercial-related meetings, research groups and rating reviews
• Working with the Government and Regulatory Affairs team
• Drafting internal process, guidance, and policy documents

What are we looking for?
• A proven background in providing programme legal and compliance advice.
• Demonstrable experience in the media industry, including streaming and digital exploitation.
• Expertise in the UK and EU media regulatory environment, including in particular, familiarity with AVMSD, Ofcom Code and Guidance, BCAP code, ASA approach, GDPR, AADC, as well as laws which impact the compliance of content e.g. copyright, trade mark, passing off, defamation, contempt, privacy, data protection etc.
• Excellent management and leadership skills combined with an interest in personal and professional development
• An in-depth understanding of the complexities and subtleties of commercial clearance, with the confidence to navigate risk, understand commercial client expectations and feedback advice in a timely, constructive, collaborative way
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, combined with the ability to see the strategic perspective and the imagination to find a creative solution to business issues
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, an ability to interact with people at all levels of an organisation and present complex conclusions concisely
• Ability to deal with a large and varied workload, often under critical time pressure
• Accurate reporting and an understanding of good governance as well as the importance of process and workflows in the content creation and delivery context
• A flexible and collaborative approach with energy, drive and resilience
• A positive and constructive attitude – able to deal with pressurised situations in a calm and effective manner
• Connections within the industry, knowledge of the market and global media/regulatory trends.
