The Director, People Strategy will be crucial to developing and executing NPR's people priorities and strategies. This role will partner with NPR's senior leadership to align NPR's people objectives and initiatives to the organization's strategic priorities. The Director, People Strategy will also lead and supervise NPR's team of HR business partners and generalists to ensure that NPR's people priorities and needs are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide leadership and guidance to NPR's team of Senior HR Business Partners and HR Generalists
• Serve as strategic HR business partner to NPR's senior leadership; partner with senior leadership to align core people objectives with NPR's strategic priorities
• Lead workforce planning strategy and processes across NPR
• Strategize workforce interventions and solutions in partnership with HR colleagues to close any workforce gaps
• Lead HR business partners and generalists in developing and implementing strategic talent plans and talent movement plans
• Monitor and evaluate performance of workforce interventions and solutions using qualitative and quantitative data; continuously improve upon solutions to maximize effectiveness
• Lead organizational design processes and integration of a holistic organizational plan (e.g., talent, structure, culture, process) in partnership with HR colleagues and leaders across NPR
• Develop and implement strategy for efficiently and effectively utilizing people data to proactively support teams across NPR and to anticipate and preemptively address people-related needs
• Conduct or oversee one-on-one effectiveness coaching with senior leaders across NPR to improve leadership competencies and address any leadership gaps
• Coach NPR managers and leaders to facilitate organizational change aligned with NPR's mission, strategic priorities, and values
• Promote and support NPR's DEI initiatives and strategic priorities
• Embody, cultivate, champion, and support a culture of inclusivity and belonging at NPR where employees are seen, heard, and valued
• Travel to NPR locations as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in human resources or related field

REQUIRED SKILLS
• Passion and commitment to NPR's mission and values
• Thinks strategically and practically about NPR's current and future people needs
• Expertise in organizational design and talent management
• Experience leveraging strategic initiatives to problem-solve proactively and preemptively
• Ability to anticipate organizational pain points and effectively strategize against them
• Executive-level judgement, decision-making, and political acumen to advise and provide direction for NPR
• Excels at building and fostering relationships at all levels of an organization
• Demonstrated experience coaching, building, and leveraging relationships to influence decisions
• Proactive and proficient communicator
• Analyzes and projects consequences of decisions and/or recommendations
• Understanding of and proficiency in handling sensitive human resources matters that require confidentiality and discretion
• Demonstrates and upholds the highest levels of integrity, ethical conduct, and stewardship

PREFERRED SKILLS
• Minimum 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience including experience leading talent management, workforce planning, performance management, succession planning, employee relations, and employee engagement initiatives
• Leadership experience or experience leading a project team
• Experience in the media industry
• Labor relations experience and/or ability to develop and execute effective people strategies and priorities within a unionized environment
