Weekend Meteorologist - Part Time

WKBN/WYFX/WYTV needs a PART-TIME meteorologist to cover a broad range of weather conditions in Northeast Ohio.

We're looking for someone with, or working on, a meteorology-related degree, who believes in active weathercasting, generating your own forecast, tracking down to the street level and being first with breaking weather and news. Must have experience with television weather presentation systems and have familiarity with the region surrounding Youngstown, Ohio.

This meteorologist will forecast for the weekend newscasts and multiple digital platforms. This PART-TIME position will be needed to cover shifts on Saturdays and Sundays. Some additional shifts may be available during this time to fill in during the week.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
• Produce and report weather and/or news stories across all media platforms.
• Present live weather and news reports from the station as well as in the field.
• Write weather stories and update forecast information on station website.
• Develop innovative and creative ways of presenting the daily weather story.
• Create maps and graphics to illustrate weather conditions.
• Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Solid vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation.
• Mastery of the science behind weather forecasting and data analysis.
• Strong reporting skills.
• Understand importance of social media.
• Proficiency with Baron or Weather Company (WSI) weather systems.
• Detail oriented.

Education/Experience: Must have television key-wall experience in forecasting and presenting weather.

Training/Equipment:
Operate newsroom computer systems.
Operate Baron Lynx, Weather Company/WSI, and/or ChyronHego computer systems.

Work Environment/Mental/Physical Requirements: High stress environment with deadline pressures. Some travel may be required. Position requires work on weekends and holidays. Work may be performed in extreme outdoor temperatures.
