We are looking for a weekend morning anchor / reporter. WPRI, the Nexstar station in Providence, covers both Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Rhode Island is known as the Ocean State with beautiful beaches, boating and many biking and hiking trails. We are also driving distance to ski resorts and major cities like Boston and New York.

As weekend news anchor, you will anchor newscasts that air on Saturday and Sunday mornings, as well as fill-in anchoring during the week. We are looking for a leader in the newsroom who has a passion for strong journalism and a commitment to our viewers.
• Multi-level content anchor/reporter, with platforms that include TV, internet and mobile
• Develop and report on-brand stories for air and digital
• Demonstrate compelling storytelling with active live shots, stand-ups, and creative graphics
• Understand how to gather, write, and present complex information into understandable stories
• Thrive in breaking news situations
• Build local sources to stay ahead of competitors
• Take part in special reports, election coverage and other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Communications/Journalism or related degree (Equivalent of at least three years of experience may substitute for education)
• Experience as a tv anchor and reporter
• Solid vocal delivery
• Strong reporting skills
• Understand importance of web and social media
• Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and organizational skills
• Proficient in INews and Adobe Premiere a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

High stress environment with deadline pressures.

Must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work near others, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Must be able to work irregular / odd hours at times.

Must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to thirty pounds, handle control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
