Job Description
We're looking for a dynamic storyteller to join our team as a Wakeup News Anchor-someone who can deliver trusted, compelling news across all platforms and connect with audiences in meaningful ways.
What You'll Do
• Present news and content across broadcast, digital, and social platforms with clarity and authenticity.
• Uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Write and deliver stories that are accurate, concise, and engaging.
• Collaborate with producers and team members to shape impactful newscasts.
• Contribute to writing, editing, research, and content development.
• Report from the field and conduct interviews as assigned.
• Respond quickly to breaking news and urgent newsroom situations.
• Represent the station at community events and promotional activities.
• Engage audiences through involvement in WIVB+ and creation of social media videos to expand reach and brand presence.
• Take on special projects and additional duties as needed.
• Salary - $70,000 to $80,000
What We're Looking For
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in news reporting or anchoring.
• Exceptional on-air presence and strong communication skills-comfortable ad-libbing when needed.
• Excellent news judgment and deep knowledge of local, national, and global issues.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire team members.
• Skilled in multitasking, meeting deadlines, and thriving under pressure.
• Tech-savvy with proficiency in newsroom systems and digital tools.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and breaking news situations.
