Job Description
WGN America is looking for a Supervising Producer for News Nation, WGN America's new prime-time newscast. The position is based in Chicago, Illinois. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing one hour of a three-hour newscast. Candidates must have solid national news judgment and a demonstrated ability to craft a creative rundown, create segments, and can go from market to market with live breaking news.
The producer must work well as part of a team. Candidate must know national news and politics, be aggressive in breaking news and national severe weather situations and have a successful formula of intermixing social media within a television newscast.
Three to five years of producing experience from a top 20 market is mandatory. Strong writing, organizational, and people skills are vital. Desktop editing is a must. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills.
