WGN America is looking to build a digital team with exceptional web producers. The position is based in Chicago, Illinois. This multi-talented candidate must have strong news judgment, knowledge in a myriad of social media platforms, and thrive while working in the 24-hour news cycle.
-Writing and posting national news stories, interesting videos and web exclusive content.
-Populating our social media channels with compelling content that drives users to our websites.
-Ensuring factual, grammatical and legal accuracy online and upholding the station's established journalistic standards to avoid editorial bias.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills who is organized and focused on ensuring a website that is topical and beneficial to users. The candidate should also be able to balance the demands of both long and short-term projects, while meeting daily deadlines.
A college degree in journalism, mass communications, a related field or equivalent experience is preferred. Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of online content experience with a broadcast/television media environment. Skill set must include: desktop editing, Adobe Photoshop, Wordpress, Google Analytics and knowledge of all social media platforms. Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as well as being on-call, are required.
