WGN America's News Nation is seeking a Special Projects Producer to fill a unique position in the newsroom. The ideal candidate will be able to identify bias and unconscious bias in story-telling and writing. The producer will lead the newsroom in thoughtful and open discussions and examinations of content, how to cover stories, and how to find all sides of the story. The producer is responsible for examining all aspects of writing for NewsNation's news broadcasts. The position is based in Chicago, Illinois.

The role of the special projects producer is to analyze language form, language meaning, and language in context as it is presented to a national audience. The mission of News Nation is to report facts with the absence of bias.

Responsibilities include writing stories; proof-reading stories for the newscast, website and app; and desk-top editing video for stories. The producer will contribute creative ideas for providing proof of non-bias in broadcasts.

The applicant must have at least 3 years of experience as a writer or producer of television news broadcasts. They must have a college degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, or Language.

Applicants must demonstrate a facility with language and a writing style that is authoritative and credible.

Strong writing, video, news judgment, and internet skills are essential.

Applicants must possess the ability to work well under pressure and work well with others.
