Job Description
The Special Projects Producer will be a highly motivated leader assigned to manage special projects by producing half-hour or :60 minute specials including producing daily newscasts. The person in this unique role must have an emphasis on creating and managing quality which make our newscasts standout in the market. Stay on top of what's happening in the community and find ways to take those stories to a higher level. You must be a positive contributor and adapt to quickly-changing, high-profile story elements including shoot dates, fact checking and creative oversight.
• Execute strategies for special projects that will engage & grow audiences across all platforms
• Produce newscasts for broadcast across all platforms
• Writes and orders news stories
• Approves scripts
• Balances news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts
• Edits video
• Write stories for the website and other eMedia platforms
• Interacts with newsroom personnel, viewers and users on social media sites
• Performs other duties that involve the marketing of all special projects from conception to delivery

Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Expert knowledge of television newscasts, sourcing and reporting
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Minimum two years' producing experience in news operations
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize special projects assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Flexibility to work any shift as a news producer
