Job Description
The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, is hiring a business and lobbying reporter to cover the intersection of K Street, Wall Street and Main Street. You will be responsible for covering the world of Washington, DC, lobbying, how businesses seek to shape federal policy and the ways policymakers shape business in the US

About the role:
• The business and lobbying reporter will be responsible for a mix of spot news stories, regular briefs and features for a national audience. A successful candidate will not only know the ins and outs of lobbying and policymaking, but will also be able to break down policy battles for readers beyond the beltway. The reporter will be expected to cover key economic issues such as the impact of historic inflation and the threat of a looming recession. You will also work closely with colleagues on The Hill's policy, congressional, White House and campaign teams in a highly collaborative newsroom.

Responsibilities include:
• Contributing to The Hill's coverage of business trends, economic indicators, labor unions, federal regulations, and congressional hearings focused on business and the economy.
• Leading The Hill's coverage of lobbying and influence, including two weekly lobbying briefs. Co-writing The Hill's nightly ''Business and Economy'' newsletter.

Skills and qualifications:
• A degree in journalism or a related field is required, and previous reporting experience in a metro or national media environment is preferred.
• Candidates should have good instincts for understanding what readers want and be able to produce error-free, clean journalism on a tight timetable. Basic familiarity with Google Trends, SEO skills and real-time analytics are a plus.

Compensation ranges from $55,000 to $75,000 commensurate with experience and skill level. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, Life Insurance, and 401K with company match.
