Newscast Director

Job Description

The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, seeks a Newscast Director for Hill.TV and our flagship morning program, ''Rising.'' (You can watch the show at https://thehill.com/hilltv/rising or https://www.youtube.com/c/thehill.)

In this role, you will be expected to:
• Call direct daily newscasts and other original productions, including special events, Hill Events, and sponsored content.
• Lead the technical crew in airing fast-paced newscasts.
• Facilitate the overall look and presentation of news production under the guidance of producers.
• Program video switcher to provide composite effects required in any given program.
• Keep track of changing program rundowns.
• Ensure that all video sources and remotes are of high technical standards.
• Collaborate with producers to facilitate production elements, including music, graphics, lighting, camera-blocking, guest interactions, set furnishings, and all other related presentation elements.

Ideal candidates will have these skills and qualifications: 
• 5+ years professional experience in LIVE production and directing.
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Television or equivalent professional experience.
• Possess a strong fundamental understanding of news video and audio production equipment technologies.
• Possess a working knowledge of video servers, graphic playout systems, video routers, switchers, robotic cameras.
• Experience using TriCaster 2 Elite.
• Demonstrate excellent judgment and timely decision-making in a dynamic and fluid live news production environment.
• Ability to work precisely under deadlines and pressure.
• Must be an effective leader and able to positively motivate and effectively communicate with producers and production crew.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Must be willing to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Able to make quick decisions and give accurate instructions to crew during live broadcasts.
• Demonstrates innovative thinking and creativity in all aspects of their responsibilities.
