Job Description
The Digital Producer leads the transition from broadcast focused newsrooms to multi-platform newsrooms through active daily example; providing training in methods, processes and tactics; as well as in creating/editing original content beyond that which is produced for on-air.
• Conceptualize and create fresh, compelling digital content that combines a variety of elements, including video, polls, social media posts and photo galleries.
• Cover breaking news quickly and accurately in a fast-paced, high-intensity newsroom
• Engage, manage and grow the audience on our social media platforms using an array of tools, including live video, user-generated content, polls and more.
• Identify trending local, regional and national stories and create unique content for our digital platforms based on those stories.
• Work with and train reporters, anchors and other newsroom staff to ensure digital best practices are being followed.
• Brainstorm and edit video content for our digital platforms

What you need to have
• A college degree or equivalent experience
• Excellent writing skills and a solid grasp of AP Style
• Strong knowledge of social media and digital news platforms
• A high-energy, proactive, creative personality

Knowledge, skills and abilities
• Ability to quickly learn and master applications in the newsroom
• Experience editing and improving copy
• Excellent editorial judgement, time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize quickly
• Working knowledge of search engine optimization strategies
• Basic understanding of HTML and web site maintenance
• A command of image editing and streaming video

Experience with basic video editing software is a plus
