Job Description
The News Editor operates editing equipment to produce images or scenes for newscasts and other programming.
• Come join our elite team of Emmy Award winning craft editors. Projects range from our daily newscasts to franchise segments including Connecticut Families, Stretch Your Dollar, Wednesdays Warriors and 8 Things to Do, to large scale productions including Hartford's Puerto Rican Day Parade, New Haven St Patrick's Day Parade, Our Annual Lighting Up the Holidays (tree Lighting), Town Halls and Political debates.
Opportunities to work on Series stories will be made for individuals with a demonstrated skill set, positive attitude, and passion for storytelling.
• Daily responsibilities include editing all Newscasts, editing raw material into a cohesive visual story, matching scripts to visual elements, editing short and long form News PKGs, crafting high impact Special opens, censoring of explicit footage (police body cameras and/or UGC), acquiring video elements through a myriad of sources including ABC, Latakoo, Bitcentral, YouTube, Drop Box, WeTransfer, FTP, archive, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Collaborate with Producers/Reporters/Web Staff and Photographers on elements to be used for live shots/broadcast and website.

The ideal candidate is a good citizen, team player, self-starter with a positive attitude and desire to hone the craft of storytelling with a drive toward excellence. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred skill set includes newsroom or related experience, proficiency in a non-linear editing program such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or AVID. Familiarity with newsroom computer systems such as iNEWS or ENPS is a plus.
