Position Summary:

KLAS-TV, the CBS Affiliate in Las Vegas, Nevada is looking for a Morning News Co-Anchor/Reporter to join the top morning team in the most exciting city in the country! We are looking for an energetic, warm and friendly morning person (who doesn't mind getting up real early!) who can handle everything from hard news to features, breaking news, live guests and ad lib situations. This position requires daily anchoring, regular reporting, and daily contributions to our digital platforms without fail. You must be reliable, have a great attitude, and be a team player who collaborates with the News Managers and Producers. Community involvement is required.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Three hours of morning newscasts and cut ins, including oversight on story selection, content, and production.
• Presents news stories and writes content for the website and other digital platforms daily.
• Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Writes and delivers news stories in a clear and concise manner.
• Assists in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating news content.
• May produce daily news story, including packages and live shots as assigned.
• Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsrooms situations as required.
• Participates in morning editorial meeting
• Participates in promotional activities and makes regular community and public appearances.
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites.

Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Minimum five years' experience in news anchoring and reporting preferred.
• Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, news makers and issues.
• Is a newsroom leader who collaborates with news managers and producers.
• Proficient on social media.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution.
• Superior on-air presence.
• Fluency in English.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Work Environment:

Deadline driven and sometimes stressful environment. Must be willing and able to work any and all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays and be on call as needed.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The Morning Anchor/Reporter must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the Morning Anchor/Reporter must be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
