Louisiana First News, a trusted source for local news in Baton Rouge and surrounding communities, is seeking a dynamic and experienced News Anchor to join our team. We're looking for someone passionate about storytelling and dedicated to delivering accurate, engaging, and compelling news to our viewers.
As a key on-air presence, you will serve as a newsroom leader, connecting with the community while representing the values and credibility of Louisiana First News. • Responsibilities:
• Anchor live newscasts with confidence, clarity, and professionalism.
• Deliver breaking news with urgency and accuracy, providing viewers with context and clear information.
• Collaborate with producers, reporters, and the newsroom team to develop compelling content.
• Write and edit scripts for accuracy, clarity, and impact.
• Engage with viewers on digital platforms, including social media and the station's website.
• Represent the station at community events and maintain strong local connections.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to the newsroom staff.
• Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2–5 years of on-air anchoring and reporting experience.
• Strong editorial judgment and storytelling skills.
• Excellent on-camera presence with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle breaking news calmly and professionally.
• Experience with digital and social media platforms.
• Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues.
• Experience guiding, directing and motivating others.
• Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Flexibility to work any shift.
