Job Description

We're looking for an expert in digital content production workflows and audience development strategies. Technical acumen, excellent relationship building and the ability to communicate across departments are all essential to succeeding in this role.

The ideal candidate must be able to lead content production teams during periods of high stress to ensure efficient efforts produce KPI growth. Monitoring real-time traffic patterns to understand audience trends and predict content needs to maintain growth levels is key. Creating national audience development strategies and a multi-site recirculation plan is a must.

• Work with digital project managers, editors and writers on new ways of storytelling
• Help newsrooms craft digital-first workflows and content strategies
• Review analytics to assess performance of content; turn insights into strategy
• Train newsrooms on ways to grow KPIs
• Understand the types of stories that drive traffic on the web and the voice they should have
• Know where to look and constantly check for web-friendly stories and breaking news
• Monitor analytics and communicate success to different teams so others can learn how to navigate available story topics
• Photo editing. From simple screen grabs to photoshop mashups
• Write compelling headlines and know what piques a reader's interest. Package stories in a way that will drive traffic
• Have firm grasp of editing, from source credibility to fact checking and story telling
• Communicate with other editors to understand what dedicated departments are working on and have already worked on
• Maintain speed to site while sharing resources with other departments
• Be consistent with budgeting and experiment with new tools to share information
• Writing and editing for high-quality journalism publication
• Be able to train on and understand various third-party vendor tools

• Newsroom experience: At least five years
• Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in journalism
• Schedule: M-F, with some flexibility as needed
• Analytics: Understanding of digital metrics, both site-specific and via social platforms
• Coding: HTML and CSS literacy
