Join the #1 online news team in North Carolina at www.myfox8.com – FOX8 WGHP in High Point, NC (Greensboro area). We're looking for a talented and creative journalist with the ability to learn new systems and jump into a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position.

The specific duties include: must be able to report, write, select and publish original news and other stories to assigned station web sites. Ensure consistency and accuracy of stories on the site and consistency with the station news department. Must have the ability to react to and post breaking news quickly and accurately. Work is self-directed to generate, research, and write original stories. Monitor stations newscasts and mine other information sources for news and distinguish newsworthy stories for the site. Capture and edit still images and video and post to site. Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social media platforms desired. Wordpress experience desired. Ability to work autonomously and use legal and ethical judgment on stories, images, video to post to sites.

Qualifications are as follows: BA/BS degree or equivalent (Degree in journalism or related field preferred). Strong writing, grammar, proofreading and editing skills required. Good editorial and ethical judgment along with knowledge of legal issues required. Journalism background and knowledge of AP style required. Basic HTML knowledge helpful and strong graphics skills desired. Strong computer skills desired and experience with Photoshop is helpful but not required.

Must be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work well with a diverse group of people. Must be able to handle stress, including short deadlines. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to work mornings.
