Job Description

WGN America is seeking an experienced major market executive producer for their prime time 3-hour newscast. This position is based in Chicago, Illinois. The executive producer will direct and execute the production of a daily national news broadcast that takes the power of 110 local Nexstar newsrooms and creates a fast-moving live newscast.

Responsibilities include the management of all newsroom employees working on the daily broadcast. The executive producer will direct the editorial decision making for all platforms throughout the day. Also maintaining the station integrity and legal standing through the decision-making process. Must be a strong copy editor and approve all scripts as well as develop and execute strategies for ratings success.

Ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in journalism/mass communications or related field, a minimum of 5 years major market broadcast producing experience, and strong news judgement. Communication is also an important characteristic in order to lead, manage and work with the staff.
