WTNH/WCTX News 8 seeks an experienced Ignite Director to direct live and live to tape News Broadcasts and Life Style Programming.

The successful candidate will have a high degree of professionalism, effective interpersonal relation skills, ability to organize and prioritize workload and function well in high pressure situations.
• Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct newscasts, breaking news and other programs using Grass Valley Ignite automated system.

Must be a leader, risk taker and have a desire to take broadcasts to the next level using our new state of the art studio and control room.

Integral part of on-air decision-making team with excellent communication skills and the ability to interact well with Producers to create clean and engaging on air content.

Ability to work all shifts including weekends and overnights in a 24/7 news environment.

Solid knowledge of current events.

Work Environment/Mental/Physical Requirements:

High stress office environment with deadline pressures. Position will require you to prioritize tasks and multitask daily, and well as manage multiple projects simultaneously with frequent change in direction and priority. You must be able to work outside of normal business hours, including holidays, early mornings, nights and weekends.

The Newscast Director must be able to stand, sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, communicate over electronic headset, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work near others, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the Newscast Director must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
