Job Description
The Director of Digital Analysis and Engagement is responsible for the short-term and long-terms analysis of website user data. This position will provide insights to corporate partners and station leadership on trends, best practices, and priorities to increase video views on websites. This person will watch live data throughout the day to help various stakeholders make informed content decisions keeping in mind the priority of increasing video views. Additionally, this role will be an expert in digital video production and be able to pass along that knowledge through various training initiatives.
This position will craft and execute a strategy for maximizing video views via effective on- and off-site promotion. This includes leading the company's engagement efforts via social media and newsletters. The Director of Digital Analysis and Engagement will work directly with companies, vendors, and partners to ensure stations are up-to-speed on best practices for various distribution channels.
This person should lead by example, never hesitating to jump into the mix to help lead efforts during major stories.
This position will be based at Nexstar's corporate offices in Irving, Texas.
Position Responsibilities:
• Constantly watches data to identify trends to jump on and opportunities to build on. Evaluates website analytics as part of daily and long-term decision-making for audience growth strategy
• Builds reports based on needs of corporate officers, Regional Audience Directors, and other partners. Ability to effectively communicate what the data means in an actionable way.
• Trains and coaches local journalists on best practices.
• Monitors all forms of media for breaking news, trending, and exclusive stories that will grow engagement.
• Watches social media to look for trends and best practices that can be shared across the company. Will build videos and graphics as needed to be shared during major stories.
• Works with all partners and vendors related to social media and newsletters. Will be responsible for station support on these platforms.
• Jumps into to assist national team and location stations during big stories and events.
• Builds positive working relationships with corporate team as well as local newsroom staff and management.
Skill/ Experience Requirements
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in digital content and journalism
• Track record of success growing video views and pageviews
• Strong understanding of Google Analytics and Chartbeat
• Experience growing social media pages across various platforms
• Extensive experience training small and large groups
• Knowledge of SEO best practices and AP Style
• Strong multitasking abilities
• Organized, technical problem solver and quick decision maker
• Ease with/ability to learn new technology independently and quickly
• Enjoys working in teams and has excellent interpersonal skills
• Some schedule flexibility (nights, weekends)
