Title: Director, Marketing Communications (MarComs)

Reports to: SVP, Ad Sales Marketing & Solutions

Position Summary:

The Director, Marketing Communications will lead and manage messaging for Nexstar's Ad Sales vision and strategy in the marketplace and internally. This role will have responsibility for helping to build, execute and enhance Nexstar's ad sales brand reputation and to raise awareness of the organization both internally and externally.

Reporting to the SVP, Ad Sales & Marketing, and working in partnership with senior leaders across the organization, the Director, MarComs will create and connect what the organization needs to say with how to say it most compellingly and effectively.

This role will work closely with the ad sales leadership team, marketing team, corporate communications, and human resources.

Responsibilities include:
• Lead, manage, and elevate the message and language used to communicate the value proposition of Nexstar properties and assets to the industry.
• This role will partner closely with the go to market teams to create storytelling and messaging consistent with ad sales priorities.
• Lead communications and public relations initiatives including internal and external communications, press releases, partner collaborations, content marketing, thought-leadership articles, social media campaigns, and awards submissions.
• Collaborate with corporate communications executives to engage trade press, both proactively to write, pitch, and place stories and responsively, coordinating requests for interviews and comments on stories.
• Lead and manage ad sales' marketing communications aroundadvertising opportunities, storytelling messaging in the marketplace, and internal strategy meetings.
• Manage all social media marketing efforts across Nexstar Ad Sales B2B accounts on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook creating content calendars, and creative assets working with creative services.
• Work closely with creative services to produce creative materials including presentations, digital, website, print and video that supports the sales portfolio and raises awareness and consideration in the marketplace.
• Develop and manage the division's strategic internal communications including tasks such as executive level speech writing for key internal and external events, as well as conference panel preparation for senior leadership.
• Develop a consistent organizational voice, plan, and oversee regular organizational communication and help make the division visible in a wide range of media.
• Develop and execute internal organizational communications strategy and calendar that aligns with overall organizational mission and goals.
• Collaborate with teams across the organization to create opportunities to share the divisions mission, solutions, and key accomplishments.
• Serve as counselor to other senior leaders within the organization to understand and define marketing communication needs.
• Work closely with the SVP, Marketing, Insights, and Product team to develop and manage new positioning, brand refreshes, refining core messages to key stakeholders, and aligning organizational materials and communications.
• Ensure that brand identity, messaging and marketing communications strategies are infused in organizational efforts.
• Work with the Marketing team on the creation, distribution, and maintenance of collateral and content such as certain marketing materials, newsletters, brochures, presentations, and website development, etc.

Salary Range $150,000 - $180,000

Based in New York or California

About you:
• 10+ years' related media experience; background/experience should include communications, messaging, marketing, and experience working with an ad sales organization
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Strong communication, visualization and creative thinking skills are essential
• Experience in website development, social media and developing publications and other externally facing assets, and leveraging multiple forms of media to define and elevate an organization's profile
• Experience working with corporate communications executives to engage press, both proactively to place stories and responsively
• Experience engaging and collaborating with organizational senior leaders and multiple teams with distinct communications needs, across an organization
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, environment, as well as identify and communicate potential needs or problems
• Excellent judgment, entrepreneurial mindset, and creative thinking skills
• Track record of translating ideas into action plans and results
• Proactive, collaborative approach to work and a demonstrated capacity to work with diverse stakeholders across all levels
• Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
• Must have extensive knowledge of media strategy
• Must have a deep understanding of media's role in the marketplace
• Proven ability to influence key internal stakeholders and external marketplace leaders
• Established external relationships with key trades
