Part news manager, part teacher, part creative consultant, part cheerleader; put that all together and you get the next Assistant News Director at WGHP-TV FOX8. You'll help run the morning meeting, making sure we the day is set and reporters know the direction we're looking to take for the newscasts. We're looking for someone who can not only lead but listen, since really that's the most important part of the job. Requirements:
• 7 years newsroom experience
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills
• Familiar with AP Stylebook
• Great attitude and knows how to have some fun
Duties:
• Assists with planning, staffing, training, and performance evaluations for the News Department
• In charge of reporters including scheduling
• Reporter development
• Morning story meeting
• Serves as the News Director in my absence
• On-call rotation on weekends
• EP duties on special projects (i.e. elections, debates, etc…)
