NewsNation Writer, Morning in America (Chicago)
NewsNation is looking for a broadcast newswriter to work on stories for the network morning show 'Morning in America.' The position is based at the network's headquarters in Chicago. This is a union position and employee will be responsible for joining IBEW and remaining as a member in good standing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Writes broadcast copy which is accurate, compelling and creative meets network standard and conforms to show's style
• Edits video using desktop editing tools or alternatively works with editor when required
• Works with the network assignment desk and feedroom to coordinate live shots from network correspondents or affiliate reporters
• Builds graphics and writes topic bars
Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field
• Three to five years experience preferably in network or cable news environment or in top media market is preferred
• Strong writing skills are required
• Must exhibit strong news judgment
• Applicants must demonstrate a facility with language and a writing style that is designed to be off-the-cuff and fun, yet authoritative and credible
• Must work well on short deadlines
• Must be proactive
• Must be responsive to feedback
• Familiarity with AP style helpful
• Prior experience working in ENPS preferred
This is an IBEW union position and union membership is required.
