Senior Field Producer

Job Description

NewsNation seeks a Senior Field Producer to join our growing news team. The ideal candidate is both strong editorially and technically with a wide array of experience in field operations. The Senior Producer will serve as an editorial/technical leader in the field for the network. The producer should be key in identifying key stories and events that will differentiate News Nation's news product and elevate the network's brand.
On a daily basis, the producer will serve as a standout field producer, responsible for working with a correspondent and photographer to set up interviews, gather video, collect information and write packages.
On special occasions, the producer will be on location tasked as a coordinator of major events, including but not limited to: anchoring on location; townhalls; debates and breaking news coverage, involving multiple teams. The position is based at the network headquarters in Chicago or in our studios in NY.

Responsibilities:

Daily, the producer works with correspondent to determine news of day, pitch stories, conduct research, develop sources, arrange interviews and shoots.

The producer must be able to scout locations and secure permission for major productions and or live shots.

Ability to put together production budgets.

Ability to work with assignment desk, production team and operations department to craft and communicate major production plans.

Must be able to communicate path transmission and overall field set up to field team and in house control room in a clear and concise manner.

Experience and comfort as a multimedia journalist to serve as a second camera on shoots or break off and gather additional elements

Willingness to travel for work, often with no prior notice

Ability to assist with booking travel for daily and major coverage events

Requirements & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in journalism, production or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

Five plus years of editorial/field experience in a fast-paced environment for a national news program (broadcast, cable or digital)

Strong communication and organizational skills

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills who brings lots of ideas to the table

Strong editorial judgement

Ability to work well with others

Familiarity with various cellular, satellite and fiber transmission essential.

Multimedia/digital journalism skills: shooting, non-linear editing, file transfer (Latakoo)

Familiarity with local and pool operations a plus.

Must have a valid Driver's License as well as a clean driving record

Salary Range for this position is $80,000 - $150,000.
