NewsNation Segment Producer, Elizabeth Vargas Reports (NYC)

The NewsNation Segment Producer for Elizabeth Vargas Reports is responsible for producing strong leads and for the daily news program.

Alternatively, the producer will produce guest segments with newsmakers.

The position is based at the network's studios in New York.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Write clear, compelling and strong editorial copy in anchor's voice

Research topics using the Internet, video archives, and other information sources

Select strongest possible elements to help best tell stories

Work with talent on daily taped pieces

Prepare or edit questions for guest segments

Keep Executive Producer and Senior Broadcast Producer apprised of developments of stories

Requirements & Skills:

Five to ten years of experience in national or major-market news

BA/BS degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field.

Strong writing and editorial skills required.

Ability to create dynamic graphic and video elements

Must be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of people

Interact well with on-air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital and engineering staff

Detail-oriented

Excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills

Exhibit strong news judgment

Handle stress, including short deadlines

Work at a computer for extended periods of time

Must be able to work assigned shifts and be on call during some holidays

Perform other tasks as assigned by news management

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000
