Job Description

NewsNation is looking to hire a full-time bureau News Photographer/Editor based in Chicago. We want on our team someone who is proficient in shooting and edit and ably partners with a correspondent and producer team to craft stories which are accurate and compelling. The person must have a strong work-ethic, be a self-starter, a clear communicator, and a team player. The news photographer will travel to cover regional stories in Illinois and the Midwest, however, the team may also be dispatched to cover stories nationally or in some cases internationally as well.

Duties to include:
• Shoot video for news reports
• Edit reporter packages and elements for television broadcasts and digital use on Adobe Premiere
• Familiarity with BitCentral & Latakoo helpful but not required
• Shoot active and dynamic live shots in various settings
• Maintain video equipment and other gear
• Operate portable live unit and ENG trucks in remote situations
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Travel will be required

Requirements & Skills:
• Minimum five years' experience of news gathering
• Degree in communications preferred or related experience
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift and carry equipment in the range of 50 lbs. in weight
• Basic knowledge of live truck operation
• Good communications skills with sound editorial judgement

UNION AMENDMENT:

You will be required to join (and remain in) the IBEW Union while in this position. ADDITIONALLY, YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR BENEFITS AS SET FORTH IN THE APPLICABLE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WHICH MAY DIFFER FROM THE ABOVE STANDARD OFFER LETTER TEMPLATE. Please review the collective bargaining agreement for specific details and terms, however, below is a general outline:

a. Health Benefits- as a FT union employee, you are entitled to participate in the company benefits plan.

b. 401(k)- as a union employee, you are entitled to explore a 401k option offered by the Entertainment Industry

c. Vacation Leave: as a FT union employee, your vacation will be outlined by the collective bargaining agreement (2weeks prorated for the first year if hired between January 1 – June 30,
or 1 week prorated for the first year if hired between July 1 – December 31).

d. Sick Time: as a FT union employee, your sick time will be outlined by the collective bargaining agreement (5 sick days prorated for the first year).

e. Personal Days: as a FT union employee, your personal days will be outlined by the collective bargaining agreement (3 days- for the first year, 1 day earned per every 60 days worked, days to be used during the contract year).
