NewsNation Associate Producer, Elizabeth Vargas Reports (NYC)

The NewsNation Associate Producer is responsible for contributing story ideas, compiling elements related to stories and segments, assisting in the crafting of taped packages, compiling research on guests and authoring suggested questions. The Associate Producer works closely with the show's Executive Producer, Senior Broadcast Producer, Booking Producer, and Anchor daily.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Pitches story ideas

Researches production topics using the internet, video archives, and other information sources

Writes, produces and edits material that appeals that conforms to anchor's voice and resonates with target audience
Other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

Three to five years experience in national or major-market television news

BA/BS degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field

Strong writing skills required

Ability to create dynamic graphic and video elements

Must be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of people

Must interact well with on-air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital and engineering staff

Must be detail-oriented

Must have excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills

Must exhibit strong news judgment

Must be able to handle stress, including short deadlines

Must be able to work assigned shifts and be on call during overnights, mornings and weekends/holidays

Salary Range: 70,000 – 85,000 Annualized
