Job Description
Who we are
From games on TV to mobile and web, Next Games develops approachable games to entertain a diverse, global audience.
We design games that Netflix members can enjoy every day as part of their subscription. Our games released on Netflix to date include TV games Boggle Party, Pictionary Game Night, Party Crashers: Fool Your Friends, and Underwatermelon, as well as Netflix Puzzled, available on mobile devices and on tudum.com.
We proudly combine our Finnish game development culture with Netflix's global entertainment culture, embracing the strengths of both and empowering our talented and diverse teams to deliver their best work yet.
The Role
As a Technical Artist, you will help us set the standard for visual fidelity on Netflix. This is a pivotal role where your technical expertise directly empowers our creative vision, ensuring our games are as high-performing as they are beautiful by functioning as the primary link between Art and Engineering. You will translate ambitious creative goals into robust technical solutions, ensuring our UI and gameplay visuals are seamless and optimized. From developing specialized shaders to crafting immersive visual effects, you will be the person who makes the ''impossible'' ideas work in-game.

Key Responsibilities
• You will act as a bridge between departments, turning creative concepts into functional systems within Unity.
• You will develop and maintain UI shaders while designing and optimizing particle systems and visual effects that bring our worlds to life.
• You will identify and resolve bottlenecks related to rendering, shaders, and animation. Your work ensures that our visual quality never comes at the cost of a smooth player experience.
• You will build tools and scripts that improve artist productivity and proactively collaborate on asset pipelines and optimization strategies.

Skills & Experience
• You have extensive experience working in Unity and a solid understanding of real-time rendering constraints.
• You are comfortable working with JavaScript, Python, and HTML. Knowledge of Lua or shader languages like HLSL, GLSL, or Shader Graph is a significant advantage.
• You have a track record of creating 2D UI-focused shaders and implementing high-quality particle systems.
• You can debug visual and performance issues independently and have a strong grasp of mobile game optimization.
• You are a strong communicator who is comfortable working across disciplines to find the best solutions for the product.
The Team
We are a lean and agile team and are part of a first-party studio that values world-class fidelity and a positive failure culture. You will have the opportunity to build the tools and workflows that define our technical art standards, all while working on groundbreaking projects for a global audience.
We aim high here at Next Games and will ask you to do the same. In exchange, you'll be part of a team that is great to work with, dedicated, and passionate about what we do.
We look for what each person brings to our collective skillset, culture, and values to make them richer. Will you be the person to make us better?
