Job Description
As the lines between games, film, tv, and animation continue to blur The Game Studio Transmedia Pipeline R&D team will be the vital team working within the Netflix Game Studio organization across the wider company to ensure we're paving a way towards a future where creatives and teams can seamlessly collaborate across those mediums in a way only Netflix can and ensure our company wide technology investments that enable productions do so with equivalent eye towards game developer needs.

The Lead Engineer will build, lead, and manage this initially small team to help us pave the way towards a future where world class IPs can be easily collaborated on via all mediums. This will involve a high degree of influence and collaboration outside their immediate team, and great candidates will thrive in bringing disparate stakeholders together and identify opportunities and projects in this still largely ambiguous space. They will be expected to contribute directly with hands-on work, especially earlier in the life of the team.

Responsibilities
• Cross-Netflix relationship, collaboration, and alignment: Working across Netflix organizations as well as Netflix Game Studio game development teams, to drive creation and adoption of new ''transmedia'' technical and creative capabilities across all mediums for our top and new IPs by identifying and creating effective ongoing collaboration on investments and projects.
• Team Leadership: Able to work across disciplines with minimum process to organize work and create predictability in an unpredictable space. Able to build bridges and collaborate well with several Netflix game platform partner teams and help their team to succeed individually and together with them.
• People and Project Management: Manage this small, senior, multi-discipline team and ensure team focus and health.
• Working across disciplines: Building and maintaining a high degree of empathy and effective outcomes for disciplines such as design, art, techart, etc in addition to engineering such that solutions are high impact for all that could benefit with ''transmedia pipelines''
• Pipeline/tool R&D hands on work: Especially early on, this person will lean in to do hands on work in pipeline/asset/tools software development work. Both to understand more directly what it will take to succeed and contribute to it, and to educate the future composition of the team over the long term. This will include hands-on coding, scripting, and documentation in collaboration with other software teams at Netflix.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science
• 7+ years experience in engineering oriented roles in or adjacent to games, Visual effects (VFX), simulation, or related projects/industries
• One or more Lead Engineer/Engineering Manager role on a team faced with ambiguous but strategic challenges with some aspect of VFX, games, pipeline, or other projects that have challenging performance and/or artistic requirements
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills
• Strong engineering fundamentals, hands on experience with Python, C++, batch processing.
• Exposure and familiarity with at least one full featured game engine and how assets move through them (Unreal, Unity, internal AAA studio engines, etc.)

Bonus Skills
• Worked on shipping games or other high complexity interactive projects that have complex asset pipelines
• Familiarity with more than one major game engine and its art pipelines
• Built or managed tools and/or multi-stage complex art pipelines in VFX/film or games
• Experience managing workflows across disparate OS's and tools (Mac, Linux, Windows, source control, DCC applications, etc.)

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $500,000 USD.
